How you can help

If Alexander's story and his mother's determination to fight Cot Death in his memory are an inspiration to you, there are a number of ways in which you can help the Considering Alexander SIDS Foundation, Inc.  Just click on the hearts by any area of activity that interests you.

Donations

It perhaps goes without saying that the main challenge to any non-profit organization is finding the means to realize its aims, and 'Considering Alexander' is no exception; indeed, the Foundation seeks to expand its work significantly with its commitment to assist in developing a broad agenda for SIDS research over the next five years.  All donations whether large or small will be acknowledged and receipted and make a real difference to our ability to move forward.  If you would like to support the Foundation, please do not hesitate to ask for further information.

The Windflower Ball

The Ball is the Foundation's biggest individual fund raiser to date and if you live in or near New York City, or can make the trip, your presence will always be welcomed.  The Ball has achieved high profile support to date and been blessed with outstanding Speakers; you can expect to enjoy a marvellous evening.  Importantly also, items are always needed and sought for the Live and Silent Auctions, which make a powerful contribution.  Please let us know if you think you might be of assistance.

Volunteers

Whatever your skills and how ever little or much time you can spare, 'Considering Alexander' would like to hear from you; particularly, if you are a SIDS parent or family member and feel a calling to become involved in some way.   The Ball, our major function of the year, takes a lot of putting together and there are many roles to play, and you will have discovered already from this site that there are many other activities undertaken and planned.  You may have some ideas of your own, and we'd love to hear them.  In any case, be in touch with us.

Ambassadors

If you are visiting this site because you are interested in our work and you're learning more about SIDS and the tragedy and emptiness it can bring, then please spread the word about risk reduction.  If you have friends who are new parents, talk to them; be sure that they are aware of the potential risks and help them to take sensible precautions.  It's all to easy to say "it'll never happen to us …"  So say the parents and families of nearly three thousand children a year in the United States.  You can help us by just mentioning our name, our website address and what we do.  Education is the key. Perhaps, although you may never know it, you'll save a life.
